Our own alpaca herd, Glenavon Alpacas, was born in 1993 with the purchase of 2 alpacas. Today we run a herd of approx 60 alpacas in a range of colours from white to black. We place a strong emphasis on conformation, temperament and high quality fine, dense fleece.
Fibre Naturally Woollen Mill was conceived to allow us as well as growers from around Australia to turn beautiful alpaca fibre into luxurious yarn.
We are proud to showcase our alpaca breeding as part of our Alpaca Allure yarns and products, and are one of the very few mills that process their own farm grown fleeces.
Precision Alpaca Group, run by Max and Taryan Matthews, is one of the largest alpaca studs in Victoria, farming over 600 alpacas. Originating in 1994, they now have some of the best alpaca genetics Australia has to offer in white and colour. They have been very successful in the showing ring, breeding many champion alpacas.
We look forward to their shearing each year to get our hands into their beautiful fleeces and using them in our next release of natural Alpaca Allure yarn and products.
